Benefits for EEA Nationals, Part 2 only

Wednesday, 11 November '20   9:45am - 12:45pm

This is PART 2 of a two part course. To attend the complete course, please book via Part 1.

9.45am - 12.45pm

  • Right to Reside and Brexit
  • EEA case studies

Benefits for EEA Nationals, Part 2 analyses the remaining Right to Reside categories and also considers how benefits rules are effected by Brexit. After the break, we practice what has been taught, allowing for an extended Q&A on current casework and/or BTC case examples.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Be able to recognise when an EEA national is eligible for means tested benefits because they have a derivative right to reside or a qualifying right to reside as a family member;
  • Understand how the EU Settlement Scheme operates and how benefits are affected by settled and pre-settled status;
  • Have gained an awareness of how benefits rules are affected by Brexit during the transition period and beyond.
  • Have practiced using a systematic approach to understand the benefits rights of EEA nationals;
  • Have had an opportunity to discuss EEA cases that come up in their work and/or BTC case examples.
