Details

Pregnancy fitness class commencing on this date for 5 weeks.

This in-person class is delivered by physiotherapist Aileen Hurley.

The class is composed of two sections.
❤Exercises- 50 mins❤
❤Pregnancy education and support: Including any questions that arise from that- 10 mins❤

Exercises: The main intention is to challenge and maintain strength and endurance.

Types of exercises include:
» aerobics with light weights/resistance band
» body weight exercises e.g. squats, lunges, press ups, hip thrusts
» upper body resistance exercises
» core and balance exercises
» yoga and pilates mobility sequences/stretches

All exercises can be modified to support the needs of women e.g. modifications for pelvic girdle pain or moving towards the end of pregnancy

The Bump Room is a great meeting place for mums-to-be which is sociable and supportive.

Instructions

It is safe to exercise all the way through your pregnancy, including the first trimester. It really helps with the nausea and fatigue.

However the first trimester is associated with the highest risk of miscarriage. For this reason, our preference is to accept women from the second trimester onward, when the risk is substantially reduced. Also, a specific pregnancy exercise programme is not usually required in the first trimester.

For the in-person classes, we supply the mats. You will also need to bring:

GYM BALL: Use of the gym ball is central to The Bump Room as it allows for movement of the pelvis in a supported way.

THERABAND

LIGHT WEIGHTS 1-1.5kg

BOTTLE OF WATER

Specific details about the size of the gym ball and examples of where to purchase equipment are included in post-booking email.

🔸The booking process includes health screening questions. It is required that you read the medical conditions where exercise in pregnancy is not advised and the warning signs for when to stop exercising during pregnancy prior to completing the booking. If we require more information we will contact you directly.

🔸There is an option in the screening form to request a call from your physio instructor to discuss any concerns and considerations.

🔸To support you during the 5-week block, your instructor will invite you to a what's app group. The purpose of the group is for quick communication and sharing information (from us and within the class). All the participants in this group are doing the class.

🔸Most Health insurance policies provide full or partial cover for the classes, please submit receipt to benefit. This receipt is issued after booking which includes the CORU registration number of your physiotherapist instructor.

🔸You may have more questions: Please refer to our FAQ section of our website for more detailed responses, or reach out to us directly hello@thebumproom.ie
