This workshop is always a favourite with parents and children alike!
An afternoon of fun and chaos for little ones as we learn about Punk on the King’s Road back in 1970s and the importance of Vivienne Westwood.
Bring along an old white t shirt to chaotically destroy using different techniques to transform into a whole new form of individualistic expression, DIY style!
What happens in the workshop?
Caroline will give a lively interactive (age appropriate!) talk to the under 10s to glean a better understanding of 1975-1978 followed by deconstruction of their t shirt, exploring punk style fabrics, stencils, safety pins, studs and small chains for your tinies to create their own DIY punk..
What will my child learn?
A brief history of Punk on the King’s Road.
Textile techniques such as laddering, glue gunpatchwork, threading, draping, stencilling slogans, a little bit of sewing!
Children will also learn that mistakes are part of the creative process and to be fearless in design. A great workshop for loosening up children who strive for perfection the enemy of creativity.
What will they leave with?
Their unique punk t-shirt and a whole new understanding of punk from a child’s perspective!
