Saltwater Mittens - February 1, 8, 22

The mittens of Newfoundland and Canada's Atlantic coast are as beautiful as they are warm. Designed to withstand the harshest extremes of snow, sleet and cold, when knit from wool these mittens will become fast favourites both to knit and to wear. Whether you want to make gloves, mittens, or the ever-so-useful trigger finger mittens (good for so much more than just hunting!), this class will help you improve your stranded colourwork and construction skills. Each student will select a pattern and materials for a pattern from the book Saltwater Mittens and learn the techniques essential to creating their own pair of wearable art perfect for an adventurous Ottawa winter.

Level: Adventurous intermediate
Skills required: Stranded colourwork will be taught, as will the techniques specific to the project chosen, but confidence in knitting fundamentals such as casting on, knitting, purling, and working small circumferences in the round (whether with double pointed needles OR magic loop) is essential and will not be taught or reviewed.

Cancellation Policy

Students must cancel at least 2 weeks before the class is scheduled in order to receive a refund. Should the store cancel a class, students will receive a full refund. Please note that Wabi Sabi reserves the right to postpone and reschedule a class due to unforeseen circumstances. Should this be the case, we will make every effort to contact students to let them know of the cancellation and to arrange a makeup class.
