Join us in the Walled Garden to make your own willow, obelisk plant support for your climbing roses, clematis, sweet peas or even beans and nasturtiums

Your tutor Heather McDermott will walk you to our very own Salley garden and teach you how to select, grade and dry willow rods as well tell you all the myth and folklore associated with this wonderful shrub.

Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, Heather and her assistant, Naomi, will guide you throughout the workshop giving you step by step instruction to make a willow structure to be truly proud of. Written information will also be provided for you to keep

This is a relaxed informal experience and will last approximately five - six hours

Morning and afternoon tea & coffee with homemade treats as well as a delicious homemade lunch and will be provided to fuel your creativity.

As restoration works are underway, the peripheral paths may not be suitable for wheelchair users.

Directions to The Walled Garden

• Drive 3.9 miles from Holywood along the A2 Belfast Bangor dual carriageway
Or Drive 4.1 miles from Bangor along the Bangor Belfast dual carriageway
• Take the Helens Bay turn from the A2 onto Craigdarragh Road
• Drive 0.7miles down Craigdarragh Road - you will see the Walled Garden on your
left
• Take the next left hand turn down the laneway – there is a stone wall with a stone
41- 49 painted on it - and drive until you reach the Walled Garden where you can
park.
This turn off will be signposted for the workshop
