Introduction to Mantrailing Workshop

4 - 4.5 hour workshop, completion of this workshop allows you to access regular trailing sessions. You and your dog will learn to work together to find hidden people.

On the day, after a briefing and a kit rundown, we will learn line handling skills and then teach the dogs to take scent from an article of clothing. I will teach you the necessary steps to get your dog ready to trail and then each dog will complete three trails. You will take turns to hide for each other's dogs too.

Requirements: dog must be able to wear a harness and be safely left in your vehicle during the initial briefing and between trails. You may need to bring equipment to cover your vehicle windows if your dog will bark at the others and to keep the sun out if we are lucky. You are welcome to bring one additional adult with you to be your helper and stay with the vehicle. At least one person will remain with the vehicles at all times.

Please note the dogs will only be out of the vehicles one at a time and the dogs do not meet at all, therefore dog-reactive dogs are welcome. Contact me if you have any queries.

Unfortunately I am unable to accept banned breeds including XL bullies on these workshops, also dogs who have trained in bitework.

Private rural location at BN27 1SF, full directions will be sent shortly before the event. Location is very suitable for dog-reactive dogs - no public access. There may be livestock in the adjacent field. The workshop is held in a slightly sloping grassy field - please consider whether the terrain will suit you if you have any mobility impairments.

Parking is on gravel and grass - be prepared to reverse either in or out - there is no turning space!
