Sail a double handed boat as crew or helm, and solve a variety of problems afloat. By the end of the course you will be able to launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring, and sail a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions.
This is a two day course running all weekend. Attendance is required on both days to complete the course.
This is to cover the RYA youth sailing logbook (if required), certificate and safety boat fuel. (This is much less than cost price). The instructors are volunteers and are not paid.
Any final details on timings will be sent the week before the course. Contact boating@3rdCB.org.uk if you have any further questions.
Level: Intermediate
What to Bring
You will need to bring suitable clothing to go afloat and get wet in. This means swimming gear, a wetsuit if you have one (don't worry if not, we have a number you can borrow), a complete change of clothes, and a towel! You will also need some old trainers / plimsolls / boat shoes for your feet. Jeans, wellies, flip-flops and bare-feet are not appropriate.
We will provide you with a buoyancy aid.
You will also need a packed lunch or money for chips! It is worth having a few snacks with you in-case we have a late lunch.
All courses are dependant on weather and the availability of our volunteer instructors, and therefore may be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice. If we do have to cancel a course we will email you and it will be published on the group Facebook page, so please check prior to travelling to The Den if the weather is not looking good.
