Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is the national UK charity for families affected by postpartum psychosis (www.app-network.org).

This one-day online course (via Zoom) draws upon cutting-edge research in postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder and is informed by the real experiences of women and families.

The course will develop knowledge, understanding, and confidence in managing this severe form of postnatal mental illness.

The training is led by APP's expert trainers, including:

  • Professor Ian Jones (Professor of Psychiatry, National Centre for Mental Health, Cardiff University, Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist);
  • Dr Sally Wilson (National Training Coordinator at Action on Postpartum Psychosis);
  • Dr Jessica Heron (APP Chief Executive)

The course includes the identification and management of postpartum psychosis; the management of bipolar disorder in pregnancy and the postpartum period; understanding risk factors; early symptoms; diagnosis, risk assessment; the experiences, information and support needs of women and their families.
