The inspirational artists : Tarsila Do Amaral and Leonora Carrington

Mary Leonora Carrington :6 April 1917 – 25 May 2011 was a British-born Mexican artist, surrealist painter, and novelist. She lived most of her adult life in Mexico City and was one of the last surviving participants in the Surrealist movement of the 1930s. Carrington was also a founding member of the women's liberation movement in Mexico during the 1970s

Tarsila de Aguiar do Amaral, September 1, 1886– January 17, 1973 was a Brazilian painter, draftswoman, and translator. She is considered one of the leading Latin American modernist artists, and is regarded as the painter who best achieved Brazilian aspirations for nationalistic expression in a modern style. As a member of the Grupo dos Cinco, Tarsila is also considered a major influence in the modern art movement in Brazil. She was instrumental in the formation of the aesthetic movement, Antropofagia (1928–1929); in fact, Tarsila was the one with her celebrated painting,Abaporu, who inspired Oswald de Andrade's famous Manifesto Antropofago.
