In our June Lunchtime Session we're running a panel discussion all about freelancing.
We'll be joined by three award-winning freelancers in audio to talk about their careers, how to make it in the industry, and the future of their trade - with an open Q&A at the end.
We'll also have guest appearances from production companies that work with freelancers on what they're really looking for in self-employed talent, and what makes a successful freelancer in their eyes.
Our panel will be made up of:
Sylvie Carlos
A radio and podcast producer who works on amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities. Worked for various organisations including BBC 1Xtra and on her own independent podcast docu-series. Also APA Best Lifestyle & Society Producer (2023), Radio Academy 30 Under 30 (2022)
Meera Kumar
Audio producer who has worked for the BBC, Sony Music, Universal and many others. Her work regularly makes the Top 10 in the podcast charts. Also APAs Best Entertainment Producer (2022) and Radio Academy’s 30 Under 30 (2023).
Solomon King
A mix engineer, sound designer and producer. He's worked for The Guardian's audio team, also with Reduced Listening for BBC Radio 3, and mixes music videos and trailers. He also writes and produces his own music.
