Details

Chatter Matters (aimed at children aged 0-2 years old) support parents and carers in a group environment to understand:

What is communication?
Communication starts from before birth
How babies and children learn to communicate
Why parents and carers need to support their babies and child's communication
Words are a later step on the journey
Everything a parent or carer does is an opportunity for babies and children to learn communication skills
Communication relies on basic skills being in place - interaction, listening and attention (which relies on good hearing), play, understanding.
Parents have a vital role to play.
The way parents talk to their babies and children makes a big difference to how they learn language
Background noise good or bad?
When to ditch the dummy!
Looking at how parents can support their speech
Early warning signs
How will I know if there is a problem and What to do if you are worried
