Draft and Sew a Circle Skirt - Adult Workshop - Ages 17 and up - For Confident Beginners

Ready to take the plunge into garment making? This is the class for you! Jana will guide you through drafting a pattern for a classic knee length circle skirt from your own measurements. You’ll then learn how to cut and assemble your skirt, complete with an elastic waistband and side seam pockets. Leave class with a skirt you can twirl in and the basics of pattern making!

This project is for a confident beginner. You are able to use a sewing machine and sew a straight or curved line, and have made some basic projects. If you don't feel confident, we can schedule you for a one-on-one lesson ahead of time to get you up to speed. Send an email to byjanajune@gmail.com about private instruction.

Supplies:

• About 2.5-3.5 yds of pre-washed and dried, non-directional woven fabric (Cotton or Linen recommended; instructor will contact to confirm amount based on size)
• About 1yd of ⅝” or ¾” elastic (instructor will contact to confirm amount based on size)
• Coordinating sewing thread
• Measuring Tape
• Pattern Paper (Bosal Tracing Material 46” x 5yd recommended)
• Water or heat soluble marking pen
• Small scissors or snips
• Straight pins
• Fabric scissors or rotary cutter, mat, and pattern weights
• Bodkin or loop turner (Clover Clip ‘n Glide or Dritz Loop Turner recommended)
• Metal seam gauge or Hot Hemmer
• Pencil
• Paper or notepad

Optional:

• Serger
• Four cones matching serger thread

CLASS POLICIES
o Your spot will not be reserved in the class until payment is made in full.
o All students or their Parents/Guardians must sign a waiver before participating in class activities. This should be provided as a check box in your checkout process.
o This class has a 4 person minimum. Class may be cancelled if minimum is not met 48 hours prior to class.
o Beehive Craft Studio reserves the right to cancel a class at any time.
If we do so, you'll be issued a full refund.
o Inclement Weather Policy: We reserve the right to cancel class if we deem that weather would make traveling to class dangerous. Every attempt will be made to schedule a makeup for the missed class.

o Mask Policy: All students are strongly encouraged to wear masks during workshop time if there is a student or teacher requesting masks.

o No refunds for no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of workshop. Refunds will be processed online within 48 hours of cancellation with the funds going back to your method of payment.
o Everyone works at different speeds and while we expect everyone to finish by the end of the workshop we can't guarantee it!
