This is a hands-on workshop that explores our relationship to colour and chromatic systems, looking at historical theories and contemporary approaches to negotiating colour in painting. Colour is fundamental to painting. It pushes space and elicits emotion. Colour never sits still, moving according to what is around it, both physical and cultural. From da Vinci’s harmony of closely related colours to Matisse’s love of opposites, Itten’s methodical approach to Frankenthaler’s belief in intuition, join Evan Woodruffe for a colourful weekend of experimentation and learning.
