This is a unique opportunity to study portraiture under one of New Zealand's most notable and respected figurative artists.
In this four day workshop students will explore full figure and portrait drawing and painting from the clothed model. Students will experiment with a range of drawing mediums and acrylic paints to capture the dynamic nature of figurative art. Methods taught will focus on gestural drawing, block- in, and measurement to improve proportion. Further exploration will focus on tone, light, action, planes and anatomical structure.
The first two days will be dedicated to drawing, and the remainder will complete several portraits and full figure paintings. Students will paint in acrylic using a wet into wet limited palette painting technique. Discussions will involve colour perception, flesh tones and paint application regarding the clothed figure.
