The Weekend Group: Personal Narratives with Michael Shepherd
This course is designed for intermediate to advanced artists looking to deepen their studio practice and refine their technical and conceptual approach. Working in your preferred medium—oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolour, drawing, or mixed media—you will explore advanced methods and techniques while developing a more personal and expressive visual language.
Guided by an experienced tutor, the course balances hands-on studio work with critical discussions on contemporary practices and historical influences. Occasional lectures will provide deeper insights into materials, techniques, and artistic strategies. Participants are encouraged to establish a thematic focus before the course begins and to bring supporting studies, photographs, and other relevant materials.
This course offers a space for artistic growth, experimentation, and the refinement of both skill and concept. Please come prepared with your preferred materials.
Please bring your preferred media and surface support (ie.paper, canvas, boards) and any work (drawings, sketches, paintings) that you are currently working on or wish to reconnect to.
