Frida Kahlo is one of Mexico’s most adored artists. Widely known for her self-portraits and surrealist style she is hailed as a feminist icon and celebrated as an inspiring personality. Frida played a crucial role in defining a new art following the Mexican Revolution.
In this creative Frida Kahlo-inspired sculpture course, students will learn, investigate, and expand their visual understanding of 3-d form. They will take away a sculpture and be able to refine it and independently problem-solve for further work in this genre.
Learn how to: research and plan a composition for sculpture, cast from a mold, prep 3-d hard material/form for wet media, refine and resolve issues of drawing and painting on 3-d form, to achieve a sculptural form.
Bring: your mobile phone for research, a sketch pad/notebooks, an apron, hand towel (optional), a container to transport sculpture to & fro (i.e. large shoe box)
