Manjushri Buddhist Meditation Centre in Milton is hosting us for an one-day focus on three of the core modules required for SRE Teacher accreditation. These are Values and Life Skills, Classroom Management and Resources and Lesson Planning. We are developing online versions of the other modules. The training also incorporates ongoing skills development for current SRE teachers, necessary to maintain accreditation.
Schedule:
9am Welcome
9.10am Values and Life Skills - Discover the Buddhist Council SRE curriculum and our emphasis on imparting values and life skills to young people. Gain an understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
10.30am Short break
10.45am Classroom Management - How to manage challenging behaviours in ways that align with Buddhist values and prioritise the wellbeing of young people.
12.30pm Lunch
1.15pm Resources and Lesson Planning - Learn how to build the structure of your lessons, implement effective teaching methods and gather useful resources.
3pm Conclusion
This is a hybrid event that will allow participants to also join via Zoom (if unable to travel to Milton). Online participants are expected to actively engage in the workshop, and must be visibly present onscreen with their registered name.
Please indicate whether your attendance will be in-person or online. Zoom details will be sent closer to the date.
If you are a keen volunteer we don't want to turn you away due to financial difficulties. Please email education@buddhistcouncil.org so we can find a solution.
