Trumpington After School session for children in years 7 and upwards
A dynamic, buzzing fencing club and part of the very successful Cambridge Sword Club. Fun friendly local and regional competitions available and coached by Sarah Paveley.
All kit is supplied at the session.
Fencing is fun, mentally taxing and physically demanding but it attracts all shapes and sizes – there is no standard athletic type that is successful at fencing. It appeals to those who are sporty and non-sporty and it can instil a great sense of accomplishment, develop flexibility, posture and strength.
We use the British Academy of Fencing syllabus and provide fencers with the opportunity to achieve the bronze, silver and gold performance awards in their first years of fencing and the opportunity to join the evening sessions in Cambridge if/when they feel ready.
Coach: Linda Strachan
Linda is a 2x Olympian, an experienced coach and multiple Commonwealth medallist. Linda has coached 100’s of children from their first lesson to successful fencing.
If you have fenced for more than one term you MUST be a member of the BFA and confirm your membership number in your booking info. If you have fenced less than one term you will receive temporary (10 weeks) free membership which you can continue for one year for c£15.00.
Membership of the BFA is mandatory for all members of clubs affiliated to the British Fencing Association - it gives many benefits and most importantly, insurance.
