Join the volunteers from Mental Health swims, for a group swim at the Lido. To find out more about 'Mental Health swims' visit: https://www.mentalhealthswims.co.uk/
At this session, you will be introduced to the colder, unheated pool temperatures of Jesus Green Lido. The volunteers will take you through the many benefits (and potential risks) from swimming in colder water and will help you to take those first steps of immersion into the pool. The emphasis at the session is on 'Dips not distance!'
The temperature of the lido in July is generally around 18 degrees centigrade. There is no pressure to immerse yourself in the water or even dip a toe in, if you do not want to. You can simply come along, learn more about the Mental Health swim community and meet the fabulous volunteers!
If going in the water, you should be able to swim. The session is for adults over 18 years only.
There are potential risks with swimming in cold-water and you must be prepared by bringing warm clothing to change in to, should you decide to go into the water.
You may wish to wear a wetsuit and hat, but these are not essential.
