Details

Emma Tytherleigh, Cambridge based fitness instructor and menopause mentor will be guiding us through a two and a half hour interactive workshop around the importance of exercise in the menopause and beyond. There will be a 30 minute exercise program at the end, but don’t let that put you off! Give it a go and do as much as you feel able to, always remembering that something is better than nothing!

The workshop will cover the following:

  1. Introduction into what happens to the body in menopause - hormones and symptoms.
  2. Why exercise is so important in the menopause and beyond focusing on how it can help to mitigate some of the effects of the declining hormones.
  3. The types of exercise we need to be doing and why. There will be little practicals within this talk.
  4. Questions and answers around exercise in the menopause.
  5. Interactive session looking at the barriers to exercise you might face and looking at ways to overcome them.
  6. We will end this section of the workshop with an opportunity to set yourself some mini goals around the areas of fitness that you most want to focus on.
  7. The remaining 30 mins of the workshop will be a strength and high intensity workout with resistance bands. There will be low impact alternatives so that anyone can give it a go regardless of fitness levels.

All workshop attendees will also receive a free resistance band at the session as well as access to a video workout designed specifically for women in the peri to post menopause phase. You'll be able to access this on demand from the comfort of your own home and repeat it as many times as you like.
