The Charity Commission for England and Wales, the regulator and registrar of charities, is running in person workshops intended for trustees and other senior leaders running faith charities. The 'Basic Financial Management' event will provide guidance and best practice aimed at faith charities and their trustees. The day will be a mix of presentations, interactive exercises, networking opportunities and a chance to ask questions.
The Basic Financial Management workshop is a one-day, interactive, in person workshop that cannot be attended remotely. The event topics include:
• A brief overview of your trustee duties and risk management;
• Protecting your funds and assets through internal financial controls;
• Financial Planning including the importance of reserves;
• Signposting to useful resources.
This event is for recently registered charities who require basic knowledge on protecting their finances and financial planning and for charities on a smaller income i.e. £150,000 or less in annual income who may require guidance on financial management. It is also suitable for individuals new to trusteeship to help them get to grips with the basics of financial management for their charity.
It is not aimed at accountants or those with financial expertise.
Note some of the event content will be similar to events and webinars we have run on financial management in the past.
We would encourage those who sign up to the event to refer to the Charity Commission’s Trustee Finance Toolkit - https://beingacharitytrustee.campaign.gov.uk/trustee-finance-toolkit/
and to include any questions you would like us to address during the event in your booking form..

The event is free to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge.
The Charities Engagement Team reserve the right to limit attendance to 2 people per charity/organisation if the event is oversubscribed.
