This experience is perfect for those who have not yet done any raku and would like to experience raku glazing and firing for the first time.
Bisqued pots are provided for this mini-workshop. Participants will get the opportunity of decorating using specialist raku glazes and then take part in the exciting process of raku firing. The pots will be heated to over 1000c and then placed first in reduction bins (lots of fire and smoke!) and then plunged into cold water (lots of steam and hissing!). Participants will then clean up their pots and marvel at the fabulous results that only the Raku process can create.
This mini-workshop is a perfect introduction to Raku.
Wear clothes that are ok to get dirty and smell of smoke. The raku firing is done outside so be propared to wrap up warm in colder weather.
