A one-off class to help you improve your centering and cylinder throwing technique.
"A well-made cylinder is the basis of a whole family of pottery forms and arguably the most important shape to learn to make. As musicians practise their scales, so potters make cylinders.”
The spotlight of this class will be on how to start aiming for consistency in your cylinders with regards to both height and wall thickness, and how to make your pulls more efficient. We can also look at any issues you may be having with unlevel rims, and centering your clay.
Clay is included in the course cost, and tools are available to use.
The intention of this class is to practise practise practise! Therefore we are not encouraging you to keep your pieces as we will be cutting and looking at the insides of your cylinders, and practising your centering.
Level: All Levels, Beginner Level 1
Class will start promptly at 6:30pm. Please make sure to arrive 10 minutes early to get set up and settled in ready for the class. Please be aware that parking can be limited - first in first served!
Please bring your own apron and an old towel to class. You are also able to hire an apron and towel for a $10 laundering fee.
A 2.775% + NZ$0.30 booking fee applies to bookings with a cost.
