This is a 3-hour online bootcamp for pupils in Year 10 & Year 11 currently studying the OCR GCSE Computer Science qualification.

•String Manipulation: Concatenation & Slicing

•File Handling: Open, Read, Write, Close

•Records & 2D Arrays for Data Storage

•SQL Queries: SELECT, FROM, WHERE

•Arrays: 1D & 2D Arrays for Problem-Solving

•Subprograms: Functions & Procedures

•Local vs Global Variables

•Passing & Returning Arrays

•Random Number Generation

✅ The following course requirements will be met:

•Practical use of Python for all techniques

•Hands-on manipulation of strings

•Ability to handle files (reading/writing data)

•Using arrays & records effectively in programming

•Using SQL to retrieve data

•Writing structured code with functions & procedures

•Generating random numbers in programs

Instructions

Our 3-hour intensive bootcamps are designed to cover as much content as possible. Given the fast-paced nature, attendees must meet the following requirements to ensure a smooth and valuable experience:

  1. Course Enrollment: Students must already be enrolled in the relevant OCR GCSE Computer Science course

  2. Technical Proficiency: Students should be confident in operating their devices independently, as individual technical support is not possible remotely and will not be provided by the instructor

  3. Environment: A quiet and comfortable environment is essential, along with a reliable WiFi connection

To participate effectively, students will need the following:

  1. A laptop or computer (webcam optional)

  2. Reliable internet connection

  3. Access to a Gmail account to join Google Classroom

  4. Pen and paper for taking notes (optional)
