Functional Characters explain the social interactions and dynamics of any group of dogs.
They also reveal why dogs behave the way they do in various environments and situations.
Our workshops on Functional Characters will help you to determine your dog’s Functional
Character for a deeper understanding of your pet. This knowledge will enhance your ability
to tailor training and socialising to the individual.
Anyone who encounters dogs in any way will benefit from our workshops - dog owners,
trainers, behaviourists, vets and their staff, pet rescue centres and dog walkers, etc.

Beyond the Breed Functional Character workshops are run by a team of experts including a
qualified behaviourist and a variety of dog trainers. Workshops are fun and informal and you
can attend either as a spectator (without your dog) or as a handler (with your dog or dogs).
We work with large or small groups of dogs, depending on those attending but initially your dog will be assessed individually.
If you have a handler place your dog must be able to settle in the car when it is not their turn to work. During the theory part it may be possible for them to settle in the room with you - please ensure your cars are set up with screens etc in case of warm weather.
