We meet at 1000 for a short introduction to the history of the Old Kiln Lakes area and its link to the Chinnor heritage railway. We then board the1045 steam train for an hour's return journey to Princes Risborough, where Nigel will guide you as we see lovely views towards the Ridgeway and the Chiltern escarpment. Arriving back at Chinnor, we then walk a scenic part of the Ridgeway between Chinnor and Bledlow, an area well known to 'Midsomer Murders' fans. We explore the lovely village of Bledlow, a regular venue in Midsomer Murders, with the "Lions of Bledlow" pub and church appearing frequently. The Spielberg/Hanks TV series "Masters of the Air" was also filmed here. We then visit, courtesy of the Carington Estate, the Lyde Garden, a secluded glade planted with bamboos and ferns where the River Lyde romantically rises. There will be time for a stop at the pub for light refreshments, or a picnic can be eaten on the village green. We return via a footpath running parallel to the railway
