A gentle stroll along the Hughenden Stream, with a stop for a demonstration of the citizen science survey 'Riverfly monitoring'*, followed by an opportunity have a go yourself. Wellies essential for anyone who wants to get in the river, but there's also plenty to do on the bank if you'd rather not!

*The anglers riverfly monitoring initiative (https://www.riverflies.org/ ) is a national citizen science programme. Trained volunteers collect a sample on invertebrates from the same location once a month year-round. They look for 8 invertebrate groups in the sample, as indicators of the health of the river. This helps spot pollution incidents and gives a long-term trends in river health
