MOUNTAIN BIKE - TRAILSIDE REPAIR COURSE

Whether you are a Mountain Biker or Gravel rider, looking to gain valuable skills to repair your bike in the wild, or you are an MTB Leader wishing to refresh your skills for some essential CPD or develop your MTB Trailside repair skills for an MTB Leadership assessment; then this course is ideal for you.

Bike Component names
Bike and safety Checks
What is a trailside repair / Safety
Bike size and set-up
Puncture repairs (fixing tube, spare tube and tubeless)
Mending a broken chain (quick link and repairing chain without link)
Broken chain - emergency Single Speed conversion
Separating hydraulic brake pads
Adjusting cable brakes
Re-aligning disk brake callipers (L2)
Replacing your disk brake pads (L2)
Rear mech - adjusting end stop screws
Rear mech - indexing gears
Replacing a rear mech hanger (L2)
Adjusting headset (L2)
Buckled wheel (spoke adjustment) (L3)
Snapped spoke(L3)
Broken pedal (L3)
Suspension adjustment (L3)

NB. This course is an indoor course.

What you will need for the course?

You will need a serviceable Mountain Bike; any tools you have for your bike, lunch, snacks and drinks. A small notebook and pencil would be useful to make notes while you are out on the ride. We provide work stand and some tools for the repairs; if you wish to bring your own tools, please feel free.

This one day course is ideal for riders who want to get out and explore, and want to build their skills and confidence to deal with repairs in the wild; it also covers all the checks and repairs for the FunMTB and Level 2 (& TCL) Leadership awards; and some of the level 3 (& MBL) repairs.
