Join us on The Wild Meadow for some Forest Fun this school holiday!
Quick Info:
*children are considered to be "year one" from the 1st September after they turn 5. Due to Ofsted regulations, we aren't able to accept attendees who are younger than this age in this camp. Thank you for your understanding.
Bring a water bottle and packed lunch (with ice pack, if it's warm). Snacks available. Please dress for the weather and time of year- waterproofs, warm boots, suncream, sun hat, etc.
Our Adventures:
Holiday Forest Fun Camps are a nature-based, forest school-esque holiday club with lots of laughter and fun! As is usual at Beccles Forest Schools, we facilitate the adventures that the children and young people want to embark on. We start and end with circle time, and have some other fun activities available, but otherwise this is a very child-led session that heads in all sorts of amazing directions!
The Wild Meadow provides so many opportunities for creativity and fun. When it's colder, we love exploring the ice and taking advantage of the wide open spaces, and at warmer times of year, the longer grasses provide some wonderful spaces to hide, and the dyke has had a toe or two dipped in it at times! There are some amazing trees for climbing, ropes to swing from and we love to get the slack line out! We encourage cooking over the fire, tool use and foraging for and crafting with wild materials, and we have a wonderful little pond that is always popular.
We are an Ofsted registered setting. Parents who are eligible to claim money back for childcare can do so for this session, and we accept tax-free childcare and some childcare vouchers. For the former, please request an invoice after payment is made, and please get in touch prior to booking for the latter options.
You Will Need:
Food and Drink:
Please bring a packed lunch and snacks (with an ice pack if the weather is warm). A bottle of water or juice is essential, as we have limited fresh water on site. We will prepare some snacks together.
Suitable clothing:
Please Also Bring:
(Note: we have a NO NUTS policy and ask you to take all packaging away with you to re-use/recycle where possible).
TOP TIPS:
Wellies are not warm. Best to send in trainers and bring wellies to change into for puddle jumping, then they can change back into trainers when their toes get cold.
At least 2 spare pairs of socks are a good idea for long days, and two sets of spare clothes if they LOVE puddles.
Layers of thin clothing are ideal, as they can shed one layer without getting chilly, and the air between the layers keeps the children warmer for longer.
If an attendee has sensory issues, it is a good idea to send a tea towel/small hand towel to dry their hands after washing. We just air dry ours, but our hands are bigger and we are quite used to it.
Carrier bags can stop the rest of the bag getting wet from the wet clothes.
We have plenty of drinking water to refill bottles with.

How to find us:
There is public parking at the end of Common Lane North (behind B&M, off George Westwood Way). Walk to the very end of Common Lane North and cross the railway at the crossing. Cross the cattle-grid onto the common. Follow the grassy path to the left past the allotments. Look out for the Beccles Forest School logo on the next gate to your left. We will meet you here at the beginning of each session.
