Company Registration Number: 09613364
Loan Duration: 7 calendar days
Loan Fee: £30.00
Discovery STEM Education (DSE) offers a robotics equipment loan scheme to enable students attending its educational robotics programmes to practise and develop their robotics and programming skills at home.
This agreement sets out the terms and conditions under which equipment is loaned to parents or legal guardians.
By signing this agreement, the borrower confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these terms.
The standard loan package consists of:
| Equipment | Replacement Value |
|---|---:|
| Educational robotics kit | £300 |
| Robotics arena map | £90 |
| Competition task models | £100 |
| Total replacement value | £490 |
A detailed equipment inventory will be provided at collection.
All equipment remains the property of Discovery STEM Education throughout the loan period.
3.1. The standard loan period is seven calendar days, commencing on the agreed collection date.
3.2. The loan fee is £30, payable in full before equipment is released.
3.3. The loan fee covers temporary use of the equipment and does not confer ownership.
3.4. Extensions may be requested before the agreed return date and are subject to availability and DSE's approval.
3.5. An additional loan fee will be agreed in advance for any approved extension.
3.6. The loan fee is non-refundable once the equipment has been collected, except where required by applicable consumer law or where DSE agrees otherwise.
The parent or legal guardian signing this agreement accepts responsibility for the equipment throughout the loan period.
The borrower agrees to:
5.1. The borrower must notify DSE promptly if any equipment becomes damaged, lost, stolen or defective.
5.2. The borrower will not be charged for fair wear and tear resulting from normal, appropriate use.
5.3. Where damage or loss results from a failure to take reasonable care, misuse or a breach of this agreement, DSE may seek reasonable repair or replacement costs.
5.4. Any amount requested will reflect the actual reasonable loss incurred, taking account of the equipment's age, condition and whether repair is possible.
5.5. The total listed replacement value of the complete package is £490. This is an indicative maximum replacement value for the listed items, not an automatic charge.
5.6. DSE will explain and provide a breakdown of any repair or replacement charges requested.
6.1. The borrower and a DSE representative will check the equipment against the inventory checklist at collection.
6.2. Any existing damage or missing components will be recorded before the equipment is released.
6.3. Both parties will confirm the equipment's condition at handover.
6.4. The borrower should report any faults discovered after collection as soon as reasonably possible.
7.1. Equipment must be returned on or before the agreed return date.
7.2. All components, accessories, task models and the arena map must be returned together.
7.3. The equipment should be returned in a reasonably clean condition, allowing for normal use.
7.4. DSE will inspect the equipment upon return and notify the borrower within a reasonable period of any missing items or damage identified.
7.5. If the equipment cannot be returned on time, the borrower must contact DSE as soon as possible to arrange an alternative.
7.6. Unauthorised late returns may result in reasonable additional charges, provided these have been clearly communicated and agreed in advance, and may affect eligibility for future loans.
8.1. The equipment is intended for educational use by children participating in robotics activities.
8.2. A responsible adult must ensure the equipment is used safely and in accordance with any supplied instructions.
8.3. Small components, batteries, motors and electronic parts must be handled appropriately.
8.4. Equipment must not be used if visibly damaged or suspected to be unsafe.
8.5. The borrower should notify DSE promptly about any safety concerns or equipment faults.
9.1. Borrowers may request cancellation before collecting the equipment.
9.2. Where a loan is cancelled before collection, DSE will normally provide a full refund of the loan fee.
9.3. Where DSE is unable to provide the agreed equipment, the borrower will be offered an alternative loan date or a full refund.
9.4. Nothing in this agreement limits any statutory cancellation, refund or other consumer rights.
10.1. All loaned equipment remains the property of Discovery STEM Education.
10.2. DSE may decline future loan applications where a borrower has previously failed to return equipment, caused avoidable damage or seriously breached the terms of this agreement.
10.3. DSE may request early return of equipment where there is a serious safety concern or material breach of the agreement, subject to applicable consumer rights.
