Bronze Arts Award info

What does it involve?
The Arts Award is guided by me as your child's teacher and in the lessons we would be working towards your child making their own photography sequence and also their own short films including drama, documentary and animation.
The lessons would encompass photography, film making, editing, and making a soundtrack.
As part of the Bronze Arts Award children are also be asked to make a short documentary about an artist in film who they admire, review an arts event (eg - a film, a gig, an exhibition, a music video) and also to share their art skills (this could to their peers in the online lesson or with family and friends as long as you have photographic evidence). Throughout the process children are asked to record and reflect their experience and to submit this as part of the portfolio.

How is it taught?
Bronze Arts Award is taught in live online lessons. I now keep classes a maximum of 5 students so I can give individualized feedback and the group is a safe place to share and learn. Recordings are available if you miss a lesson. I encourage children to use their camera and mic to share their work and understand children might have their camera off whilst they gain confidence. This is another reason why I keep classes so small so children can get to know their group.

When would it be?
Starting in April 2026, lessons would be on Wednesdays at 12.15pm.

How long would it take?
For Bronze Arts Award the recommended time is approx 40 taught hours.
With the recommended teaching times I will give you 24 hours of online teaching it would take 2 school terms. That being said every child is different and has different needs so some may take longer.
This course starts in April 2026 so it will end in October 2026.
Children will also be asked to complete work and do tasks at home outside of the lesson as part of the process. I will keep in touch via email with updates each week on any homework tasks - (like filming you to make their film!)

How much will it be?
It's £15 per lesson and there will be 11 or 12 lessons over each term.
Over two terms there will be 24 lessons
24 x £15 = £360
There is also an admin charge from Trinity College London Arts Award to register and receive the award which is approx £30 TBC
How old can the young person be to participate?
11 to 25 years old. This is the age guidance given by Arts Award. 11 years old is the youngest age I can accept.

What equipment will my child want?
For the online lessons I would like you to have a laptop with a camera and a microphone so we can communicate on Zoom. During the online lessons I will ask your child to talk to me and show me their work as we go along.
To take your creative photographs you can use your phone or a camera.
To make films I recommend using a phone or an ipad both to record footage and to edit. You can download an app like Capcut to edit your film. To take photographs your child can use their phone or a camera with manual settings.

How is Arts Award assessed?
The young person would create a portfolio of work and evidence which would be assessed and moderated by Trinity College London.
The portfolio can be in a variety of forms such as Googleslides, or a sketchbook. The photos and short film that your child creates will also be part of the work submitted. I will also email you with a workbook which you can print out if your child prefers to hand write or it can be added to Googleslides to fill in .
Answers can also be recorded on video or sound if preferred to writing.
The outcome is a pass or fail - there are no grades.

What is the Qualification?
A Bronze Arts Award is a Level One Qualification (Trinity College London Level 1 Award In The Arts) which is worth 6 credits.

What's next after Bronze?
After the Bronze Arts Award you could go onto a Silver Arts Award which is a Level Two Qualification (Trinity College London Level 2 Award In The Arts) which is worth 10 credits. This is the equivalent to a GCSE. If your child is using this for college admission then check with college admissions individually if they accept this qualification towards your child's chosen course.
