Learn to Lead Mountaineering Course - North Wales

Develop the skills, confidence, and judgement to lead your own classic mountain routes.

This three-day course is designed for scramblers who already have experience moving on technical terrain — including those who have seconded routes — and now want to progress to leading independently. Through structured, progressive training in a real mountain environment, you’ll gain the skills required to safely and confidently lead Grade 2 and 3 scrambles.

Based in the heart of Eryri (snowdonia) National Park his course develops your ability to move effeciently and safely over steep, rocky and exposed mountain terrain placing tradional protection and anchors. This course is also ideal preparation for those with bigger mountaineering objectives such as The Alps or the Greater Ranges.

Routes we may do include: Cneifion arête, Idwal Buttress, East Ridge of Y Garn, Notch arête, Bastow Buttress, Nor Nor Buttress, Atlantic Slab, Sentries Ridge and Dolmen Ridge.
