GDPR for Small Businesses

This introductory course will explore the fundamental elements of GDPR enabling businesses to make a plan for GDPR compliance and the maintenance required to stay compliant as their business grows and evolves. We will explore the following topics:
• An introduction to GDPR
• Lawful basis for processing data
• The rights of individuals
• How to evidence good governance
• What to do if something goes wrong (i.e. a cyber attack or a complaint about data protection)
• Other data protection legislation that you need to be aware of as a small business such as Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, Data (Use and Access) Act and the Data Protection Act.

By the end of the session delegates will have the information needed to form an action plan to strengthen their compliance with UK GDPR. They will have an understanding of the key documentation needed to methodically assess their business’s performance against what good looks like. They will have sufficient understanding of the law to enable them to make simple processing decisions with greater confidence.
