Time in the Trees - Carer Wellbeing Sessions

Time in the Trees is a flexible, nature-based wellbeing programme for carers in North Lanarkshire, designed around one simple principle - carer choice.

These dedicated sessions give unpaid carers the opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life for a while and spend time focusing on their own wellbeing in the calming surroundings of the woodland.

Caring can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Our sessions offer therapeutic time in nature, opportunities to connect with other carers who understand the caring role, and the chance to relax, recharge and enjoy being outdoors.

Led by experienced outdoor practitioners, each session is trauma-informed, relationship-based and inclusive. Activities vary throughout the programme and may include:

  • Nature crafts
  • Bushcraft and tool use
  • Campfires and outdoor cooking
  • Nature connection and mindfulness
  • Environmental exploration
  • Gentle woodland walks
  • Seasonal activities

There is no pressure to take part in every activity. Whether you'd like to join in, enjoy a quiet moment in a hammock, chat around the campfire or simply spend time in nature, you're welcome to participate in whatever way feels right for you.

Who can attend?
These sessions are open to unpaid carers aged 18+ who provide care or support to a child, other family member, friend or neighbour.

Thanks to funding from North Lanarkshire Carers Together, these sessions are completely free to attend.

What to bring:
Please wear clothing suitable for the weather, including waterproofs where appropriate, and sturdy footwear such as wellies or walking boots if the ground is muddy. We also recommend bringing a drink, and you're welcome to bring a camping chair if you prefer.

Weather:
Sessions will run in most weather conditions and will only be cancelled if conditions are unsafe. If we need to cancel a session, everyone who has booked will be contacted as soon as possible.

Places are limited so booking is essential - please complete the booking form.
