A Bible in Welsh in 1588 ... and what happened next.

Detaljer

This event will tell the story of how the first Bible in Welsh was given to Westminster Abbey Library in November 1588 and did not come to Wales until loaned by Westminster Abbey to St Davids Cathedral over 400 years later, in the summer of 2025.

The public display of the William Morgan Bible in the Cathedral this summer made a huge impact, with long queues of visitors for over 6 weeks and extensive media coverage. New evidence on several aspects of the Bible came to light as a result of joint research by teams in St Davids Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. This joint research is continuing.

The presentation on Thursday 9th October will be the first opportunity to share publicly some of these joint findings.

Instruktioner

The session will be held in the north transept of the Cathedral. Seats are not numbered. All those who have booked tickets in advance should come to the north transept and be checked in. The session will last about an hour and a half, with time allowed for questions.
