Fashion Flip is a sustainable fashion programme for young people aged 8-14.
We'll be reimagining, reworking and repairing clothes sitting unloved at the back of your wardrobe, with the aim of getting them back into heavy rotation again.
During the 4-week course, you will gain skills in design, sewing, clothes repair and upcycling, get to know more about the impacts of fast fashion and be inspired by the creative ways you can take action.
This is not a structured course, but rather an opportunity to bring your creative ideas to life, with the help of our tutors. You'll go away with skills for life and a collection of creative techniques to refer back to for your future fashion flips. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
During the final session, we'll celebrate everything you've achieved by putting together a display of everyone's finished pieces in our upstairs gallery window. This will be open to the public to view for two weeks - you're welcome to invite friends and family to come and see it and show off the results of your hard work.
Each participant will receive a £4.50 voucher to spend in our Textile Reuse Shop to continue their new found skills, with scrap bags starting at 50p per bag.
Niveau: Beginner, Intermediate
Skills: No prior knowledge required.
Level: Beginner, intermediate
Bring: If you have them, please bring along some clothes to work on, as well as any fabrics, trims or anything else you'd like to use. This is not essential as we can provide all materials required, but it's always better to work on clothes that you already like(d).
*PLEASE NOTE: As a small not-for-profit cooperative, our time and resources are always stretched to the max. In the event that a workshop doesn’t reach its minimum capacity, we will need to reschedule it. Funded by Recycle For Greater Manchester, this allows us to offer the course for FREE. However we do require a £5 refundable deposit at point of booking, to ensure that the maximum number of young people can benefit from the course. A minimum attendance of 4 sessions is required to gain the deposit refund.
