For walkers who would like refresher on moorland navigation with map and compass. In this relaxed full day session Craig will re-introduce participants to using a map and compass in the area around Cox Tor/Great Staple Tor.
The main learning outcomes will be reminding the participants how to take and walk on bearings, relating map features to what is seem on the ground understanding grid references, being able to relate map features to what we see on the ground and techniques to improve navigational strategies.
Terrain is hilly with tracks across open moorland.
Maps and compasses will be provided.
Participants will need to bring a pack lunch and liquid and be equipped for walking on Dartmoor in the autumn.
