Kayaking & Forest School (8-13yrs)

Details

River Mountain Experience return once more to Baldersby Park’s Lake this summer. Instructor David will provide us with all the basic knowledge in this fun session to gain our British Canoeing Start Award. We’ll leave the water knowing how to get in and out of a boat safely, make it move and return to a start point. We’ll also leave having played lots of games that involve rubber ducks, oversized footballs and racing around the islands in the middle of the lake!

The other part of the day we will be setting up Forest School. Our Forest School Leader, Myra, will be on hand with tools, ropes and an abundance of resources if we want to craft using natural materials, try some whittling, or perfect our den-building techniques. We might find ourselves deep in an imaginary world among the ancient oaks, or perhaps we'll spend the time relaxing sharing stories and watching the tree canopy blow in the breeze…the choice is yours.

With our experienced staff we’re able to offer so much more than just the activities - games, free play, crafts and child-led adaptations are all thrown into the mix to ensure everyone gets the most out of their day with us.

Weitere Informationen

We can't wait to welcome you to Base Camp. To keep your child happy and dry in the woods, please send them with the following:
All seasons
Clothing: Long-sleeved tops and full-length trousers are required to protect against nettles, scratches, and ticks - tracksuit bottoms or leggings are perfect.
Think like an onion! Multiple thin layers (thermal, fleece, jacket) are better than one big coat.
Footwear:
Waterproof wellies or sturdy walking boots are essential. If it’s really dry, then old trainers will be ok too.
In Their Backpack:
A change of clothes (extra socks are a must!).
Waterproof jacket and trousers (even on dry days!).
A labelled water bottle, sun hat/sunscreen (summer), or warm hat/gloves (winter).
Packed Lunch (we provide drinks and snacks)
Top Tip: We love dirt! Please send your child in old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or snagged.
