Painting with New Acrylic Mediums with Brendan McGorry
Join Brendan for a lively, hands‑on weekend exploring the exciting possibilities of today’s acrylic mediums. You’ll work directly with fluid paints, pouring medium, airbrush medium, and gloss medium—discovering what each one does, how they behave, and how they can bring new depth, luminosity, and movement to your work.
The workshop begins with a guided exercise in deconstructing and reconstructing a still life, opening up fresh ways to see, mix, and build form. From there, you’ll dive into practical experiments designed to add a new level of sparkle, clarity, and surface richness to your painting practice.
Throughout the weekend, Brendan will also be exhibiting his own work in the BSA Gallery, onsite, offering an inside look at how he uses different paints and mediums in his studio process.

Please bring :
• Willow Charcoal – Medium
• Kneadable eraser (for charcoal)
• A2 cartridge paper pad 120 gsm
• Paint: Some fluid paint will her supplied
• please bring your normal paint set
• Mediums will be provided
• Brushes: Please bring your normal range
• White plastic palette and / or old plates for easy mixing.
• 2 canvases 500x400mm or similar. Pre-loved, old canvases or panels are fine too.
• Old shirt or apron
At Browne School of Art we also have a selection of basic materials available for purchase as you go: paper in A1 / A2 sheets: newsprint, cartridge, sugar grey, wet strength, bulldog clips, pencils, charcoal, erasers, white chalk, black ink.
