Our local creative writing volunteers have been working hard under the leadership of professional storyteller, Colin Urwin, and are ready to put on an evening of free entertainment, full of local tales and witty anecdotes! Join us for a fantastic evening of entertainment - with some light refreshments on arrival as we celebrate this ancient art.
On this same evening- Colin will also be launching his new book "Dál Riada Folktales"
Dál Riada Folktales is a collection of wonder-filled stories passed down through the centuries and now, reimagined and retold by Colin, they have been given a second wind.
"Stretching from the Antrim Glens along the north coast of Ireland up through Kintyre, Argyll and the Inner Hebrides to the Isle of Skye, Dál Riada was founded 15 centuries ago. It was settled by Gaels and Norsemen and fought over by fierce seafaring warriors and pirate raiders. At its heart was the tiny holy island of Iona from which St. Columba and his followers spread Christianity among the pagan tribes. Around fires and at times of feasting, these people told their stories of strange sea monsters, great deeds, witches, whales and terrifying whirlpools."
Event will be held in the MacNaghten Hall - 2nd floor of our building
