Anna Barker is joining us as a Hoolie trainer for the first time, and this is a great opportunity to learn how to make one of the most delightful wooden objects there is; a shrink box. Here's what Anna says about her workshop:
For this workshop I will teach how to use traditional hand tools to make and decorate lidded shrink boxes. You will begin by sawing off a slice of fresh greenwood log which will become a shrink lid. Next you will hollow out the log then cut and fit a piece of seasoned timber for the base of the shrink box. You will also drill and fit a knob for the shrink lid. You will be able to take these away with you allowing them to shrink slowly as they dry out, thus clamping the base and the knob in position.
After making your own shrink box, you will have the opportunity to fit a locking lid base to a preprepared shrink box and lid. You will then be able to decorate this shrink box and lid using milk paint. By the end of the day, you should have at least two shrink boxes to take away with you – one which you have made and will need to dry, and one preprepared which you will have finished and decorated.

We'll also refund the value of the booking, seek a suitable placement on a similar event or rearrange the date of the event. If you have to cancel, please tell us as far in advance as possible. If you let us know at least 14 days in advance, we'll refund your booking.
