Studio Workshop

Join me for a cosy winter evening in the studio, painting Scandinavian-inspired folk art using gouache and watercolour.

Nordic folk art is loved for its decorative patterns, simple shapes and bold, confident colour — often drawn from nature, seasons and traditional design. In this workshop, we’ll take inspiration from those traditions and explore them in a relaxed, contemporary way, focusing on pattern, balance and expressive mark-making rather than getting things “perfect”.

This is a gently guided studio session for adults who enjoy slowing down, working with beautiful materials and spending time on a piece at their own pace. Everything is fully guided, with plenty of individual support, making it ideal for beginners, as well as those with some painting experience.

You’ll be introduced to gouache — its soft, matte finish and layering qualities — and shown how it works alongside watercolour. From a curated selection of Nordic-inspired motifs, you’ll develop your own design and bring it to life through colour and pattern.

On the night, you can choose to paint:

One A3 artwork, or

A set of A6 pieces (perfect as a mini series or cards)

Your chosen design will be prepared for you, so you can focus on painting rather than set-up. You’ll receive clear, one-to-one guidance throughout, with time to build and refine your work.

Studio atmosphere

The studio will be set for a relaxed winter evening, with candlelight, soft music and an unhurried pace. Tea, coffee, sweet treats and a small seasonal refreshment will be available to enjoy as you paint.
