Scentwork For Beginners

Our Scentwork for Beginners course is the perfect first step into the wonderful world of canine nosework!
This two-part program — Scentwork Foundations and Scent Club Entry — will equip you and your dog with the skills to enjoy scentwork anywhere. Upon completion, you’ll be ready to join the This Dog Can Scent Club to continue your training journey or even take your first steps into scentwork trials!

What your dog will learn:
• How to search a variety of environments while working in partnership with you. Search areas include boxes & luggage, tables & chairs, outdoor items, and perimeters.
• How to communicate with you using a passive indication (such as a freeze or a freeze-and-sit response).
• How to identify and search for their very first target odour — cloves.

This 8-week course includes:
• Online Induction Session (via Zoom):

• Scent Foundations: 4 In-Person Practical Sessions:

• Scent Club Entry: 4 In-Person Practical Sessions:

🗓 Friday 13th March 2026
🗓 Friday 20th March 2026

Who is this course for?
No previous experience is necessary. This course is suitable for friendly, social dogs aged 5 months and older. Limited to just 5 dogs.
Please note: Dogs must be comfortable around people and tolerant of other dogs in a shared indoor space.
