Sewing Skills Builder - February

During this course you will learn lots of helpful sewing skills such as buttonholes, zips, darts, and more.

The class will be very structured as we will go through each skill in order, giving you a chance to ask questions and practice each skill. This means it will be a bit less chatty or social than other classes, but I’ll still try to make it fun!

I will provide instructions for each skill in printed and PDF format. I will also provide fabric for you to practice on.

Suitable for: Beginner sewists who know how to use a sewing machine but want to expand their knowledge and practice some of the trickier skills.

Includes:

• 4 hours of tuition in a small group of up to 4 people
• Use of a sewing machine if needed
• All notions inc: fabric, zips, buttons, thread, etc
• Use of basic sewing tools
• Printed and PDF instructions for each skill
• A beginner sewing PDF information pack
• Tea, coffee and biscuits

Course Content

• Seam finishes:
• Zig zag finishing
• French seams
• Bias bound seams
• Staystitching and understitching
• Sewing darts
• Sewing buttonholes
• Attaching buttons (by hand or machine)
• Inserting visible and invisible zippers
• Gathering

Depending on how we do for time and what the group want to learn, we can also cover:

• Shirring
• Making bias binding
