Details
A creative, hands-on workshop series where children will design, make, and complete their very own handmade book from start to finish.
Over 8 weeks, participants will explore a range of traditional craft techniques, including papermaking, marbling, lino printing, creative writing, and bookbinding. Each session builds on the last, guiding children through the full process — from creating their own paper to illustrating and binding it into a finished book.
This is a process-led, small group workshop, designed to encourage creativity, patience, and confidence. Children will have the freedom to experiment with materials, develop their own ideas, and work at their own pace in a calm, supportive environment, with plenty of opportunity to connect, collaborate, and make new friends.
By the end of the course, each child will take home a completely unique, handmade and self-authored book — written, illustrated, and crafted entirely by them.
Suitable for: Home-educated children (no prior experience needed)
Group size: Small group (max. 6 children) to allow for individual support
Duration: 8 weekly sessions, 1 hour each
Location: St Wilfred's Community Centre, Ripon
All materials are provided.

Please ensure your child wears clothes suitable for messy, hands-on activities (aprons will be provided, but some materials may stain).
All materials are included. If your child would like to bring along any ideas, sketches, or inspiration for their book, they are very welcome to do so.
Please arrive promptly at the start time and collect your child at the end of the session. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off, whichever suits your child best.
As this is a progressive workshop (each week builds on the last), it is recommend at attend all sessions where possible to get the most from the experience.
If your child has any allergies, additional needs, or anything you’d like me to be aware of, please do get in touch in advance so I can support them fully.
