Over the last 20 years or so I have been teaching children and teenagers bushcraft and camp skills through my professional work and my role as a Girl Guide leader. I have been lucky enough to work with a wide range of organizations where, in different roles, I have delivered a wide array of bushcraft and outdoor based activities to a diverse range of groups and individuals. From running Nature Club days for 5-12yrs days or co-ordinating and delivering the Out There programme for 13-15 yrs struggling with mainstream education. Nature and bushcraft skills have always been at the center of my work.
I have seen firsthand the benefits people gain from spending time learning about and enjoying the natural world; confidence and motivation improve and stress levels can be reduced, the benefits can be enormous.
I have learned my bushcraft skills from some of the best in the industry, including great people from the Scouts and Guides movements. I continue to learn and develop my skills, attend courses, read up and of course, have a great time trying new bushcraft skills.
Feedback from my assessment for the Accredited practitioner qualification from the institute of outdoor learning said: “The assessors felt you were a committed, authentic and honest practitioner with a deep-seated passion for working with both people and cherishing nature.”
