A Six week block of Puppy classes, covering skills to give you and your dog the best possible start.
Covering appropriate socialisation, walking on a lead, food manners, jumping up, play, handler focus, recall & much more.
What to expect in class….
Your first night at training classes can be a daunting prospect for both you and your dog,
try to remember that if you and your dog had the perfect partnership that you would not
need classes, everyone is in the same place and wants to improve their skills and dogs
behaviour.
Traveling to class -
If you have a young puppy it is a good idea to get them use to the car before your first
night at class, puppies can often be sick or frightened of car travel at first and you do not
want this to have a negative association with your first session.
Things to remember before class -
We use positive reward based techniques to teach our dogs new behaviours and we will
be using food to start with to reward the dogs and reinforce behaviours, so it is a good idea
not to feed your dog their dinner on class days.
What will I need to bring -
In addition to the dog you will need to make sure you have a flat fitting collar (NO CHECK
CHAINS, PRONG OR E COLLARS ARE PERMITTED)
and a lead (NOT EXTENDABLE)
You will also need some treats for your dog, your trainer will discuss the difference
between high value and low value food and when to use each.
You will need a mat or blanket for your dog to settle on, we will use this for boundary
games and it will also be a familiar item for your dog on their first night.
For Puppy and Beginner obedience classes you will need a brush and a toy that your dog
likes.
Finally regardless of which venue you attend you will need a poo bag to clean up after
your dog, we politely request that you dispose of your waste in the nearest bin or by taking
it home.
