Engineering Your Future Event

@ Thornton Science Park, Chester University

Wednesday 4th December, 9am - 3pm

  • Please ensure attendee name is the member of staff booking and/or attending the event -

We are initially limiting places to 12 students per school to ensure as many schools & colleges as possible are able to be a part of the event. But we may able to accommodate larger groups on request.

This event is fully funded by the Joint Institutions Group which makes it FREE to attend for schools & includes students' lunch & refreshments on the day.

Engineering Your Future events are one-day career events providing an opportunity for attendees to see that engineering is a career worth pursuing, and help them make an informed choice.

It is jointly coordinated and sponsored by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institution of Chemical Engineers, The Nuclear Institute and the British Computer Society, and is fully supported by STEM Learning and the Northwest STEM Centres.

Who should attend?
This informative and hands-on event is ideally aimed at students aged 15-18 who are studying science, maths or engineering at GCSE, GNVQ or A-Level, together with their STEM subject teachers.

What happens on the day?
The day is split into 4 or 5 sessions providing insights into areas such as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical/Electronic, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering; each of which lasts approximately 40 minutes. Attendees will be split into groups and each group allocated a mentor Engineer for the day.

They will learn about specific areas & aspects of engineering from the companies and organisations invited, along with a lunchtime marketplace offering more information on ‘Routes into Engineering’. The sessions are designed to be practical and interactive and provide an insight into life as a professional Engineer or Technician.

There will also be opportunity for teachers to chat to members of the All About STEM team about how we work with & support schools.
