Ségolène is an Oxford-based independent dance artist and choreographer with a strong ballet background and a keen interest in butoh; and she is always curious about other dance forms and creative collaborations across the arts.

Classically trained in France (Paris, Conservatoire Frédéric Chopin, class of Mme Geneviève Guillée de l'Opéra de Paris) and Switzerland (Bern, professional classes of Ivana and Jiri Halamka), she was part of a semi-professional company (City Ballett Halamka) for 5 years in Bern, Switzerland.

After completing a PhD in biomedical engineering and pursuing an interdisciplinary academic research career for 12 years (of which 10 years in digital humanities research at the university of Oxford)- in parallel with pursuing a dance career- she left academia in 2017 to dedicate herself to dance.

She is a qualified ISTD teacher (LISTD(DDP)), teaches ballet in Oxford, and remains curious of all things academia and research.

Her creative endeavours are often related to academic research and she is always keen to collaborate with academics on public engagement projects.
