Series 1 Workshop Dates:
• Saturdays 13th & 20th September, 2025, 9am - 11.30am
Harness the power of your dog's nose in this two-part UK Sniffer Dogs Series 1 workshop at Bronze Level.
Tracking is the ability detect, recognise and follow a specific scent. Our dogs are born with this skill and would use it for survival before being domesticated. Humans have harnessed this skill by applying dog behaviour to the dog's ability to track, and we now use tracking dogs for lots of different operational purposes:
When tracking a human, the dogs are taught to follow Track Scent, which is the disturbance in the ground left by the human feet (footprints). Tracking the dogs are taught to keep their nose down and follow the whole track, not just to get to the end, but to also indicate on any evidence (articles) dropped by the criminal and which route they took.
This Series 1 workshop will take you through a number of exercises, including article indication, effective track laying, and completing a track with your dog. This is a combined theory and practical workshop, with plenty of hands-on training.
At the end of the 2-day workshop you will receive a certificate and rosette, along with the option to progress onto the two-part Series 2 workshop. Upon completing Series 2, you will be eligible to participate in Bronze-level Trials and Competitions, which will be held at several points throughout the year at our private venue in Lancashire.
Nivel: Beginner
Theory and session briefing will take place inside the cabin.
Practical work will take place outdoors, so please dress appropriate for the weather. Dogs will be worked either individually, allowing for nervous/reactive dogs, and to enable 1:1 feedback from your instructor.

Set sat nav to Green Haworth Golf Club. That will take you onto a small lane off Willows Lane. They are the very first farm on it, actually before you get to the golf club. Do not go past the golf club car park (road is full of potholes). There are double timber gates leading to the farm car park.
